The I Can. Explorer Initiative is a values-based youth development programme allowing groups of inquisitive, young minds to gain insights and skills through specialised excursions which take them to different regions of India.

WHAT IS THE I CAN. EXPLORER INITIATIVE?

Designed as an exploration of the self and of the world beyond, the I Can. Explorer Initiative is a values-based youth development programme allowing groups of inquisitive, young minds to gain insights and skills through specialised excursions which take them to different regions of India. These excursions take the form of highly customisable journeys that focus on learning and fun.

Each destination provides them a different group of skills with learning outcomes such as leadership, team-work, communication & networking. They discover and understand India’s heritage, and experience the various gears of Indian socio-political machinery. These outcomes are provided as a by-product of intensive learning sessions tied into the unique geographies and cultures of each location on a variety of topics related to leadership and growth.

The Initiative was started with a vision of allowing the youth of today to view the world through a unique lens of Indian culture, history, and society, encouraging them to imbibe skills important to their growth as a person, and as a member of an international community.

Apart from self-development and intellectual growth, an I Can. Explorer can expect to network with other Explorers, as well as alumni of I Can.’s existing programmes.

The I Can. Explorer Initiative 2017 builds on the strong base of existing I Can. programmes to impact a much larger number of young minds from all over the world.

Why Join the I Can. Explorer Initiative?

An I Can. Explorer not only journeys across India but also journeys the self. This helps in identity development founded on positive values such as friendship, team-work, acceptance, compassion, mutual respect, and kindness. This allows an Explorer to gain self-respect, and starts them on the path to discovering their own ‘moral map’, which will help them make good life decisions.

By overcoming surmountable challenges during expeditions, Explorers gain both a measure of their skills, and a confidence in their abilities. Over the course of the journey, Explorers discover their interests, gain insights into their personalities and preferences, and evaluate their own career readiness.

Apart from self-exploration, an Explorer also gets an opportunity to travel across India – they experience mountains, plateaus and jungles, monasteries, palaces and monuments. By understanding the land that they live in – its peoples and cultures – they are in a position to better understand themselves.

This understanding is bolstered by talks and discussions on topics such as leadership, politics, social entrepreneurship and universal religion. Our speakers are all experts in their fields and are known for their ability to inspire. This gives Explorers the opportunity to interact, first-hand, with potential role models.
